This document is here to support clarity, safety, and shared understanding as we step into working together. Please take a moment to read through and reach out with any questions before your first session.
The Counselling Process
Counselling is a collaborative and relational process where we explore your experiences, patterns, desires, and challenges together.
This work may include:
exploring personal, relational, and emotional experiences
working with patterns in relationships, intimacy, and communication
developing insight, awareness, and new ways of responding
While counselling can be deeply supportive and transformative, it can also bring up uncomfortable or unexpected emotions as we move through meaningful areas of your life.
There are no guaranteed outcomes, however I am committed to offering a safe, attuned, and skilled space to support your growth.
To support the process, it can be helpful to:
attend sessions consistently
speak openly and honestly
share feedback if something doesn’t feel right or supportive
engage with any agreed reflections or practices between sessions
Important Considerations
Counselling is a voluntary process
You may pause or stop sessions at any time
You are encouraged to ask questions and seek clarity at any stage

Your privacy is deeply respected. All personal information and session content is kept confidential, except in the following circumstances:
where there is a serious and imminent risk of harm to your safety or another person
where there is a legal requirement (e.g. court order/subpoena)
where there are mandatory reporting obligations (e.g. child safety concerns)

A full outline of how your information is collected, stored, and managed is available in my Privacy Policy.
Record Keeping
Notes are kept for each session.
Records are securely stored digitally.
Records are retained in accordance with legal requirements (generally 7 years).
You may request access to your records at any time. Please note, for couples therapy services, any requested records will be shared with all parties engaged in that service, in line with the transparency agreement.
Use of AI Note-Taking and Administrative Support
AI note-taking is a fully consent-based service that uses end-to-end encryption. Your notes remain secure, are not shared externally, and cannot be accessed by anyone other than me. They are used solely for clinical record-keeping and case file purposes. Verbal consent will be requested before each session in which this service is used.
From time to time, I may also utilise secure AI-assisted tools to help refine, format, organise, or improve the clarity of client-related communications, including session summaries, follow-up emails, resources, and administrative correspondence. Any information entered into these tools is processed through secure, encrypted services and is not publicly shared, published, used for advertising, or accessible to other users. These tools are used solely to support the preparation of professional communications and documentation relating to your care.
While AI may assist with formatting, structure, or language refinement, all clinical decisions, therapeutic recommendations, interpretations, and communications remain my responsibility and are reviewed by me prior to being provided to clients.
By engaging in services, you acknowledge and consent to the use of secure AI-assisted technology for both clinical documentation and administrative support purposes as outlined above.
